The US attack on Venezuela is an attack on the Venezuelan people and working class. Along with the kidnapping and abduction of Venezuela’s elected president and his wife to the United States, airports, parliament, parts of the capital and military bases were bombed. This comes after a long period of military escalation and attacks on civilians by the US Navy and military.
The actions of US imperialism are criminal and contrary to all international law. They will be met with condemnation and opposition from all democratic and peace-loving forces. The attacks are not about the fight against drugs, as the Trump administration claims. It is a cover to maintain its dominance over the region, ensure the exploitation and plundering of resources, and subjugate the countries of South America and the Caribbean.
The US attack shows the true face of US imperialism’s aggressive security strategy. It considers South America its backyard and claims control of the Panama Canal, Greenland, and Taiwan.
The US attack took place a few hours after President Maduro’s meeting with a high-ranking Chinese delegation. It is a blow by the United States, which has declared China its main enemy, against the influence of Chinese imperialism in Latin America.
Danish politicians call the situation “worrying”. However, we must demand that they condemn the attacks of the United States. Political support for the United States is complicity in the attack. We must demand that the American and NATO military bases in Denmark be closed, so that they are no longer part of the imperialist war build-up and future combat zone.
We call for protests against the attacks and barbarism of the United States. We call for unity and struggle against all imperialist oppression, crimes and wars.
We send our internationalist solidaric support to the workers and people of Venezuela who are fighting for their freedom and independence.
